A very big thank you to all the ladies who attended - we hope you enjoyed the get-together as much as we enjoyed putting it on. The tables were beautiful, even more beautiful than in previous years. Thanks to all the hostesses who took the time and made the effort to create such wonderful settings.
This year, we had 12 tables each set for 8. Regretably, a few of the attendees who signed up were not able to attend due to illness or other factors - they were missed - but we still had over 90 attendees. The men of the Knights of Columbus served the food, served the water and coffee, and picked up used dishes. They were marvelous 'waiters' with a great sense of style and humor and worked really hard as they have in previous years. The luncheon could not have happened without them. Thank you, thank you, thank you.
Entertainment was provided by Susan Shepard and Ruth Casper - show tunes played on the piano and sung - wonderful. There were a couple of surprises. Margaret Shepard joined in with her beautiful violin and did a couple of tunes. Also, for the sing-along, it was a duet leading the singing - Ruth Casper and another guest performer, Jim Arndt. Thank you all for a lovely performance.
We got a lot of help from our Parish Administrator, Sarah Kinsman-Welch. She did all the art work and created the programs, tickets, and posters - once again, we are saying thank you and the words that come to mind are 'beautiful' and 'lovely' and 'wonderful.'
Marilyn Treder took charge of ticket sales for the second year in a row and managed to handle it all with grace, efficiency, and serenity. Everything got done correctly, all monies accounted for, and everyone assigned to tables as requested. Thank you Marilyn - great job as always and you never lost your 'cool.'
Now, for a very special thank you - to Dorothy Arndt and her 'crew' (Jim Arndt). Four years ago, Dorothy started this spring luncheon event with the help of Jan Vitse and others. For four years, Dorothy has been the heart of this luncheon and, even though there have been others on the committees, has pretty much remained the key to successful luncheons.
This year, Dorothy said she was 'just' going to do setup and cleanup and ... maybe set a couple of tables and ... maybe gather up door prizes and ... maybe help with ticket sales and planning. Every year, Dorothy has decorated the appetizer tables and the room and it was the same this year. She does not always build things herself but brings her crew (Jim Arndt) and together, they set up tables, fences, lighting and so on. When it is time for cleanup (and this happens every year), it is Dorothy and her crew (Jim Arndt) who stay until the very end to make sure everything is done. So, Dorothy and Jim Arndt - please take a bow and listen to the applause of many hands saying thank you for all you have done for these luncheons.
I have been part of the luncheon committee for the past two years and it has been a wonderful experience - a bit of work but also a lot of fun. What a great bunch of people!
